Background Information
The Swiss Confederation is a small federative state that consists of the union of cantons. It is situated in the center of Europe and borders with Germany, France, Italy, Austria and Liechtenstein. Total territory of the country is 41,3 sq km and its capital is Bern. The official languages are German (more precisely its dialect “Schweizdeutsch”), French, Italian and its currency is a Swiss franc (1/100 of franc is a sentime). There are no currency control regulations. The legal system is continental type.
Specifics
The Swiss companies are not tax exempt and expensive to maintain. That is why using them as trade instruments (in the transfer price determination, etc.) is not often efficient. Normally Swiss companies are used for prestige – to create joint enterprises and to participate in the big international projects, and also as holdings.
Company registration
The official part of the registration takes from two weeks to a month. The whole period of registration (including preparation of Power of Attorney with Apostille from the company founders for the local resident, notary certification of documents, etc.) takes approximately two months.
The procedure. For company registration Minutes of the first meeting, the Charter and confirmation of payment of the charter capital are necessary. Physical presence is not obligatory for the registration.
